Why does society
Have to corrupt the innocent?
“Ignorance is bliss,”
One quick mind once said
And whoever they were,
They were right
It’s the people who are ignorant,
The clueless ones
Who can get along in this world,
And leave with some shred of happiness
Yet even though some see this,
Even though we realize the world around us,
We continue to live the way we do,
Walking in circles
So,
If there are people who are ignorant,
And those who aren’t
Why don’t we change?
Why don’t we all become realists,
Or better off ignorant?
Could it possibly be because that isn’t possible?
That society has a pattern?
No, many people shake their heads,
For the simple fear of the unknown
We can’t,
It’s that simple,
We are the way we are,
And we’re supposed to be that way
The ignorant people don’t even see they’re ignorant,
So they won’t change
The realists see that we can’t change society,
So why even bother they often wonder
And in between the two
We find a beautiful balance
One that not only functions
But accomplishes
So you see,
Ignorance truly is bliss
