I can imagine myself,
Walking at your side,
Smiling because you make a comment,
My hands shoved uncomfortably in my pockets

I laugh at your jokes
You smile because I laugh
There’s a slight pause,
An end to the laughter,
There’s a satisfaction
And then it starts again

By the time we’re done
The sun is going down
The green of the park is turning gold
That same pause comes again

This time a hand outstretched
Just a bit,
Mine meets and touches

A sigh as I roll over in bed,
Bumping into a mass
Placing my hand in its
I feel the soft cotton of the pillow

Letting it be I close my eyes
And try not to cry,
I don’t want to be with the masses,
I don’t want to be alone,
I want to be with one (you)
